Pedagogical Practice - Studio
Interdisciplinary, Exploratory, Evolving
As a multidisciplinary designer, artist, and educator, I see learning as a layered journey. My studio practice focuses on curiosity, risk-taking, and hands-on exploration—where materials are seen as collaborators, not just tools. I love blending intuitive making with intentional guidance, allowing students to develop their own creative voice.
Whether through textiles, digital platforms, or clay, the focus is on material sensitivity, cultural context, and ethical design. I love to integrate technology as a living tool, grounded in tactile practice.
As a facilitator, I emphasise on learning that goes beyond the classroom—fostering community, dialogue, and collaborative projects to nurture thoughtful makers who engage meaningfully with the world around them.
In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn.”
― Phil Collins

I try to continuously reflect on my teaching methods and how I engage with students, allowing me to recognise what I did well, what could be improved, and what I should be more mindful of—an ongoing practice that supports my growth as an educator.
Studio 01: Material Alchemy – The Act of Making
Theme: Form-Making through Mixed Media
This studio explored the tactile and transformative nature of materials through hands-on experimentation. Learners engaged in creating self-standing, three-dimensional artworks by combining fabric, plaster of Paris, wire mesh canvas, and acrylic binder.
The focus was on understanding materials through physical engagement, while fostering creative risk-taking and expressive form-making.
A variety of techniques such as origami, folding, stitching, cutwork, weaving, and working with materials like wire mesh, textiles, Plaster of Paris (POP), putti, and found objects were explored. These included repurposed items like used umbrellas, wooden logs for printing textures, construction-site jute and ropes, and cement bags used as base materials.

Pedagogical Intent
By emphasizing kinesthetic learning and sensory exploration, this studio enabled learners to develop intuitive problem-solving skills. Through trial and error, they discovered the expressive potential of materials and learned to think through making. The classroom became a space for dialogue between hand, material, and mind.

Studio 02: Illustration and Design Collection
Theme: Expressive Fashion Narratives Through Illustration
This studio focused on personal storytelling through fashion illustration and collection development. Learners were encouraged to explore non-traditional ways of visualizing ideas, challenging fixed ideals of beauty, proportion, and style.
The practice aimed to cultivate individual voice, material experimentation, and design innovation through a deep, end-to-end creative journey.

Studio 03: Contextual Enquiry – Body and Context
Theme: Identity, Aesthetic Expression and Material
This studio invited learners to explore the relationship between body, material, and personal expression. Through engaging with paper, fabric, mixed media, paint, sound, and movement, they examined how aesthetic perception and self-awareness are shaped by culture, emotion, and context.
The focus was on fostering sensory engagement, emotional exploration, and abstract thinking by working with material exploration, manipulation, symbolism, and embodied practices.
Keywords : Body & Identity • Expression • Aesthetic Inquiry • Tactile Exploration • Emotional Mapping • Abstract Thinking
Pedagogical Intent
This studio created space for learners to navigate complex conversations about identity, body, beauty, and cultural norms through making. By integrating tactile processes with conceptual thinking, it encouraged self-reflection, risk-taking, and personal storytelling. Learners were guided to question societal expectations and use materiality as a language for deeper self-expression
